John worked on a Trainee Licence with Around the Bend Driving School and has decided to continue working with the Around the Bend Team in Bedford.
Why did you want to become an instructor?
I wanted a career change and to do something that I was passionate about which would also allow me to be in control of my own working environment, and becoming an instructor would allow me to do this.
What did you do at the time?
I was a buyer/product manager for 12 years.
What made you choose us?
A mixture of the course programme (working at home allowed me flexibility for family life and taking children everywhere!), the cost and the support offered by Smart driving.
What did you enjoy about your training?
The flexibility of being able to do it in my own time was great and the syllabus was easy to follow with minimal guidance.
What advice would you give another person looking to be an instructor?
You have to be motivated and want to do it to do distance learning but the whole course was enjoyable, I learnt a lot and am now reaping the benefits of having qualified and being self employed doing something I’m passionate about.
How has this changed your life so far?
I was unemployed for 8 months before starting this course, but when I did start it gave me purpose again and now I’ve finished and am working in a thriving industry I know it was the best career move I’ll ever make.
