Here is Gary’s testimonial:
Why did you want to become an instructor?
I have been a van driver, lorry driver and coach driver all my working life and have always loved cars and driving. Being a driving instructor was something I had thought about but never really believed I could do. All that studying !! Till one day I realised I had learned to speak Dutch fluently , fetched all my H.G.V licences (in Holland, in Dutch). I spent three summer seasons as a coach courior learning and telling tourists about Scottish History. So it hit me why should I not give it a try.
What did you do at the time?
Coach Driver / School bus Driver.
What made you choose us?
I had been with a previous company six years ago and failed all three attempts, not the company’s fault – ( my confidence and nerves let me down)
I happened to be in conversation with Malcolm Harrison whilst having made tentative enquiries with SmartDriving ,and discovered Malcolm was one of there prefered instructors. Malcolm had been my instructor the first time around . He is such a great instructor that’s why I chose Smart driving. Then when I was ready to go out on the pink ,Smart pointed me in the direction of DRM for the car.
What did you enjoy about your training?
I loved the all the theory, I loved having to do the homework. Even though it was second time around and hard hard work. The confirmation factor worked wonders for me. Most of all the in car training from Malcolm was always informative ,helpful and correctly executed.
What didn’t you enjoy?
I haven’t found anything I haven’t enjoyed.
What advice would you give another person looking to be an instructor?
Be passionate about wanting to do the job and the rest will come.
How has this changed your life so far?
I am my own boss I know my earning potential, and get rewarded when I see the clients pass there test and get the freedom I experienced back when a were a lad and first got my licence.
