“For this sign, you’re probably on a rural road. You could be on an A road or B road. It’s telling you there’s a bend ahead.
Now, it could be, if you’re on a rural road, that you’re driving along on a bendy road. There’s one bend after the other. You’ve already passed 10, 20 bends and now you get this road sign. You’ve got to ask yourself, why have they put a bend sign at this one and not the other ones?
The reason to put this sign at this particular bend is this bend is more challenging that all the other bends before or after it, so it’s either sharper or it’s got a bit of a twist going around it, or there’s bad visibility. It’s there because it isn’t your regular bend that you’ve had for the past half mile or couple of miles.
Of course, the sign might read bend to the left, so take that with great caution. Slow down and ensure that you’ve got good visibility and you’re well-prepared for getting round the bend safely.”
