Reversing - Observation

“Before starting to reverse, you must ensure that the space you are reversing into is clear. To do this, look all around.

In some situations, and some vehicles, you might need to get out of the car to check behind. It’s always important to look behind you but this is especially the case when in car parks on driveways or anywhere where there might be children or other pedestrians behind or near the car.

If you are reversing on a road keep looking all around and be prepared to stop and give way if another vehicle or any other Road user approaches

The key points are:

– Make sure that the space you are reversing into is clear
– Get out of the vehicle to check if you are not 100% sure
– Look behind before reversing
– Take special care where are children or other pedestrians
– Keep looking around and always be prepared to give way
