“In this short video, we briefly recap the left turn skills we have discussed so far as you approach a left turn. You will use the mirrors, signal, manoeuvre routine. This is broken down into mirrors, signal, position, speed and gear and look.
Check your mirrors early to make sure it’s safe to turn. You can use all your mirrors, but the interior and left door mirror will usually be the most useful.
Give your signal early to help and warn other road users that you are turning, but not too early because that could mislead people into thinking that you intend to stop on the left.
Keep your normal road position. Too far left would risk bumping the curb, too far right would be too close to approaching traffic.
Reduce speed before changing gear and do both before you start to turn the corner.
Before making the turn, you need to check your mirrors again. Look into the new road for anything that would prevent you from turning. Remember that you must give way to pedestrians who are crossing.
After turning, cancel your signal and echeck your mirrors again before increasing speed.”
