Dual Carriageway Ahead

“So we’ve just been looking at a road sign that says Dual Carriageway in two miles time. You’ve got 2 or 3 minutes notice going at 50 to 60 miles per hour. When you get within sight of the dual carriageway, there’s a sign here that tells you there’s a dual carriageway. So all of the things are now coming into play.

The dual carriageway is now upon us, that’s probably an increase in speed limit, the speed limit on a regualar two way road is sixty miles per hour – national speed limit, and on the dual carriageway the regular, national speed limit is seventy.

Before you actually start accelerating, you need to check behind. If there’s anyone behind you that looks like they’re wanting to get past you to overtake you, then you need to hold back. If it’s all clear behind, then that is the opportunity for you to accelerate.

But also consider all those other reasons that that determine what speed you’re going. Not just the national speed limit or whatever the speed limit is, but consider what other things determine how fast you can go.”
