“We have another driving test myth here. This is from Yao and Yao tells us that you need to know all the test routes or you’ll fail. Well, test routes actually haven’t been published by the DVSA for many many years because they want learners to experience a wide range of driving situations rather than just driving round test routes. And in any case, test routes are updated, changed and modified all the time, often with road layouts and new developments in the test area that change.
Flooding, road works, crashes on test routes will also mean tests can be altered and changed even at the last minute. Even if you were able to memorise all the test routes that your instructor has told you about, or your mate down on YouTube has told you about, there’s still a chance that a new test route might be used on your day on your test and, if you go the wrong way at a junction, on a roundabout, or whatever, then teh examiner will have to change the test route for you and there you have another test route for the day.”
