Sign Shapes

“When you’re out and about, you’ll see lots of road signs or you ought to be. You need to be looking, you need to see the road signs.

The first thing is that you see a sign, then you’ll probably see what shape it is. There are three basic shapes. Circular, rectangular and triangular, but they come in different colours.

A circular sign, for exmaple, could be red on the outside and, if it’s red, it’s telling you that you can’t do something, such as a speed limit sign. If it’s blue, it’s telling you that you must do something.

The rectangular signs, they’re typically telling you information. Information about where you can park or there’s a tourist thing up ahead.

Triangular signs, they are generally warning signs. They will have a red border to them to highlight that it’s a warning.

So those are your three signs, circular, triangular and rectangular.”
