What Happens Next? (Weeks 1–12)
Here’s what to expect as you prepare for your trainee licence:
Coursework
Your Part 3 workbooks and online modules will arrive shortly.
These must be completed before your in-car training.
Keep your workbooks safe — you’ll need them at every in-car session.
In-Car Training
Your trainer will contact you within 5 working days to arrange your sessions.
Your first session will be at least 4 weeks away, giving you time to complete your coursework.
You’ll complete 32 hours of training:
– 4 full days or
– 8 half days
Virtual Classes
You’ll also need to attend 5 virtual classes (8 hours total).
Book these early — they fill up fast!
We recommend completing them alongside your in-car training (by Module 4).
All 40 hours of training are required to apply for your trainee licence.
Getting Started Call
Our team will contact you to book a call to confirm your trainee licence start date.
We’ll cover:
– Your teaching car
– Teaching area
– Test centre
– Availability
– Car branding
You’ll need to have your teaching car confirmed by this stage.
Induction
You’ll attend a full-day online induction around 6 weeks before your start date.
This is essential and prepares you for getting started.
Advertising
Around 4 weeks before you start, we’ll begin advertising for you.
Learner enquiries will be sent directly to you — we’ll explain how this works during induction.
Car Graphics
We’ll arrange for DRIVE branding to be fitted to your car.
Our approved supplier will contact you to book this in.
Preparing for Your First Lesson
In the week before you start, you’ll attend a webinar, “Preparing to Teach Your First Lesson”. This is your chance to ask questions and feel fully prepared.
Ongoing Support
You’ll be supported every step of the way by:
– Support Advisors
– Senior Trainers
– Mentors
We’re here to help — just reach out if you need anything.
